My name is Valerie and my husband is Pat. We have had enough birthdays in the fast lane are slowing down. Of Pandas and Pink Lemonade is a place where I will share my (and sometimes Pat’s) thoughts, dreams, and victories. We are on a search for our dream and hope you will enjoy following our journey.

Pandas

I fell in love with the Giant Panda when I was in high school. They were close to extinction way back then but recently they were moved from endangered to vulnerable. The Giant Panda is a gentle but fierce animal. The Giant Panda is a symbol of winning at life. For many years the biologists did not think pandas could procreate in captivity. Without captivity, the Giant Panda would not have survived. Pandas are surviving because captivity turned lemons into lemonade. We can take a lesson from our friend the panda and not only survive but thrive.

Pink Lemonade

Lemonade is one of my favorite drinks because it is both sweet and tart, just like life. The color pink signifies a very huge victory for me. One of my favorite sayings is “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” I am reminded that good can come from anything and life is better when we go for the good.

The color pink is a color of victory for the many breast cancer survivors you don’t even know you have met. In keeping with the theme of strength and reminding myself daily of my own personal victory, I make pink lemonade out of the lemons tossed my way. Please join in this journey as Pat and I make this transition into a slower simpler life.
